8een playing more Retro8ution (FusionFall) as of l8, and I'm almost level 32 now and in the endgame.
it took me 16 years (when FF originally released), 3 iter8ions (Original, Retro, Retro8ution), WELL over 36 levels cumulatively, and getting to the endgame and grinding 8ecause there aren't enough quests for me to realize there was a parry/reflect mechanic for the Corruption attacks monsters do. Literally one of the most 8asic features of the game.
I was outsmarted 8y a children's game for 16 years.

Infamously, FusionFall’s original devs couldn’t find a way to implement anthropomorphic animals in the game (save for Mojo Jojo and Jake the Dog), which is why nobody from Camp Lazlo or My Gym Partner's a Monkey don’t show up despite the show’s respective main settings being available. Arguably, the fan devs did a pretty decent job translating the characters to the anime art style, and Retrobution even gave Jake a makeover that doesn’t look like it was ripped from a Creepypasta.
Regardless, designing characters like Tod was still challenging, as there were no foxes of any kind in the original game. I ended up using Disney’s Robin Hood as a basis for him. I think it turned out pretty well. Too bad the series is gonna be on hiatus for the foreseeable future, similar to another one…
Now, you might be expecting the entry for tomorrow to be another one of Piemations’ creations, like Pretzel’s Pretzels or the recent How to Be Cool… but I already reserved the 21st for… someone else. You’ll see soon enough, but I think you already know whom I’m talking about…
Character belongs to Mike Pitts.

So I did a lil bit of a ramble to my buds over on Discord about this lil idea I had for Fusionfall, & I wanted to post it here since I thought it was too baller not to share with me fellow Fusionfall (& Demongo) fans on here.
So if I sound like I’m vaguely trying to explain some key aspects of the game’s lore here
Uh
That’s why KAMWOSMSODK
I wanted to keep everything in just in case some of y’all don’t know how the guide system works, so uh
Just bear with me here IQKQOSMSOKXEK
Aight
So
In Fusionfall, your journey will often be “guided” by one of four guides to the game, that being Dexter, Ben 10, Double Dee, or Mojo Jojo.
Each guide has a different long term objective, & they’ll give you one mission every time you advance a level, getting you closer & closer to the guide’s end goal.
Each of the four possible long-term missions is shown in the image below.
Tumblr media
Since these characters are stationary throughout the entire game, each guide storyline will have you visiting different characters to complete each guide mission, these missions often involving a desire or objective from the character giving you the mission themselves.
For instance, if Mojo is your guide, then Father (from Codename Kids Next Door) will ask you to do favors specifically for him.
It doesn’t help Mojo himself, but since Father has ties TO Mojo, doing tasks for Father makes sense (plus, it proves to Mojo that you’re obedient & hard working).
Here’s where things get tricky.
Later on in the guide missions for Mojo, Mandy comes in & tries fucking over Mojo’s plan so SHE can come in & get the upper hand on Fuse, wanting to use all that power for herself (typical Mandy behavior).
However, once Mojo & Dexter figure out what she’s trying to do, the two have you foil her plans.
But this isn’t how the guide storyline ends.
For some reason, you’re still sent back to Mandy as you do more missions for her.
Granted, it’s to help clean up the mess you & her made, but still.
It’s just weird to me that Mojo & Dexter would trust you to still work for her.
& even so, doing guide missions for other characters is purely cause these characters are typically stationary in an area that matches your level… which Mandy doesn’t, by the time you foil her plans at level 32.
You wanna know which NPC is nearby the level 32 area?
Tumblr media
In Retro & Retrobution (the fan revivals), Demongo is placed in front of the gate guarding the Dark Glade, home to the Dark Tree, a force that Mandy was trying to harness for herself before she got caught.
There’s a mission at level 31 where you go just outside the Dark Glade to measure the power of the tree from afar, which is not too far from where Demongo is stationed.
You can already tell where I’m going with this.
✨Rewrite idea!!✨
Demongo, BEING in that area, notices your shenanigans & calls you over after you’ve measured the tree. He interrogates you on what you are doing as you, the player, spill to him what you & Mandy have been up to.
Not wanting some little brat to mess up the entire war for the resistance (or even worse, become the powerful warlord they’re fighting against), he decides to intervene, telling you to return to Mandy & try to get as much information as possible about what she’s cooking.
You return to Mandy where you finish the mission & get your reward.
However, for the level 32 mission, once you are given what Mandy calls the “signal smasher”, you are instructed by Mandy to go inside the Dark Glade & clear the area. After that, Mandy tells you to put the signal smasher into the Dark Tree, but Demongo intervenes via the nanocom & urges you to return to him so he can have a look at this “signal smasher” for himself.
Once you return to him & give him the device, he tells you that he recognizes it as something found exclusively in the ruins (a place he knows pretty well due to his extensive knowledge of magical artifacts & areas). He tells the player of its true power, that it isn’t a device meant to dampen power, but to instead enhance it.
He probably has a lil “I knew it!” moment, wanting to give himself some credit KWMWOSMWODM
He then instructs you to throw this thing in one of the fiery craters located in the fire pits, probably having a throwaway line about how he knows they’re one of the hottest volcanic areas in the planet & how he used to spend most of his weekends bathing in the lava-infested craters before Fuse took over the area KWMWOSMDOKCODCK
Once you dispose of the machine, you return to Demongo, who not only rewards you, but also is now the person you go to for the rest of Mojo’s missions.
Mojo himself (as seen in your guide emails) doesn’t know if he can trust Demongo after what Mandy pulled, but since there’s a camp nearby with monkey minions actively being stationed there, Mojo at least trusts that they’ll report back to him if anything fishy happens, so he allows Demongo to take over in his & Mandy’s stead. After all, the demon USED to be a walking army at one point. He could be useful to Mojo’s cause.
The last remaining missions involve the hypnotic charm that you & Mandy used a few missions ago with Demongo discovering that Fuse’s monsters had recently gotten a hold of it. You’re then instructed by him to go search for it to prevent Fuse from harnessing its power for his own gain.
The original guide missions have you conveniently not retrieve the charm for three missions straight, ending with the destruction of the charm & the entire guide mission having absolutely no impact on the war. I know that’s the whole point of his story since it’s all about preventing him from actively making things worse, but I wanna at least give the storyline SOME justice…
Under the guise of Demongo, you retrieve the charm from one of the eyebulbs in Hero’s Hollow (at mission level 33), who looked to be on their way to deliver the charm to Fuse himself. Demongo has you hand him the charm, immediately noticing how it has been infected with Fuse’s ooze. However, unlike the original storyline, Demongo conjures up an idea to use the charm against Fuse’s army.
Being someone who had a forcefully loyal army himself at one point, Demongo devises a plan to use the charm to scramble the minds of Fuse’s forces, much like how the beasts will go into a frenzy when being compelled by an ancient warrior’s soul (which is a plotline in the main story that Demongo is heavily involved in).
He DOES confirm in the game that he has the power to place charms on people & objects, so placing one on the charm is not out of the question in this case.
However, he believes the two of you will need to safely acquire more ooze to not only override the charm’s original properties, but to also ensure the charm will have a much stronger connection to the fusion monsters, allowing it to sort of “connect” with them instantly.
The next two missions involves Demongo sending you out to fight the toughest monsters you can find (mainly the Jurassic Centurions) & acquire the toughest fusion-formed shells you can gather (from the Shellslugs in the Green Maw) to form something similar to the devices crafted in the Double Dee & Ben endgame missions.
The last mission has Demongo enchanting the device & ordering you to place it as close to Fuse’s Lair as you can. You fight the Scoria Cephalopods as usual, probably as a way to “clear the area of witnesses” or something, & are then given the orders to place the device in one of the large cracks in the earth just outside of Fuse’s fortress. Doing so will have Demongo tell you via the nanocom that the monsters nearby his area have started to act more erratic & disorganized, proving his plan to be a success.
I can imagine he gets extremely excited about it too, just get all goofy about it like
“Yes! Yes!! YES!! Let’s see that oozy fool try to take over when his own army won’t listen to him!! Who’s the powerless one NOW, Fuse?!”
Where it’s painfully obvious that his ego desperately needed that ONE win IAKAOSMSOXKSOXKSOMX
When you return to Demongo for your last reward, he remarks how Mojo had just spoken to him in private, saying he’ll “keep in touch” with the demon in case Demongo ever regains his army-summoning powers.
I like to think that Demongo would be happy to work with someone as a partnership rather than under a master, so he’s hoping this alliance will be just what he’s looking for as a newly freelance villain. OWMWOSKSOMX
Just thought this change in the storyline would help better flesh out Demongo as a character & his role in this extensive universe.

Allow myself to get a little RETROspective over FusionFall for a bit...
Tumblr media
You may have noticed my Tumblr page now looks like a Windows 7 computer operating system. You like it? Along with that, I also updated my "find me elsewhere" list of virtual places to include FusionFall's second revival, OpenFusion (soon to include Retrobution, the revival of FusionFall Retro). In addition to that, I made a page just for my Creature Feature, which you can find in the pinned post or by clicking here. . After making that page for my four Creature Features, I began thinking back to my time in the Future...both times. What do I mean by that? Well, lemme first take you back: late September of 2018... (A VERY long and unfocused post past this point.)
. FusionFall had came back to life/into my life with the beta release of Retro, housing the first four levels and the entire Future Zone. I remember the days and nights leading up to the 29th (which was actually the 27th) being spent with the local players hunting Bad Max to pass the time until the Past was released to the public (or you could say until the time machine was finished). I can't remember if I found Don Doom while Retro was out, but I did in OpenFusion since the Future Zone was empty of players. . Eventually, one afternoon, I logged onto to the Universe Team's website (what used to be fusionfallretro.com, I think) to find that a glorious update on the front page. I don't remember what it said exactly, but you can assume that the Past Zone ergo the entire rest of the game was finished. With this release, Przzyfied (one of the bois on the team), whom I was subscribed to and looked forward to his FuFa (FusionFall) content eagerly, released a Smash Ultimate-type video showcasing all the characters in the game much like the source material did to announce this update.
youtube
This, of course, was around when the EVERYONE WAS HERE tagline was hyped to the max. I saw this as a second chance to finish what I started about a decade before. As I said in a rant addressing the DCMA takedown, I came a few levels close of crossing this game off my bucket list before it shutdown, but luckily with OpenFusion, I have that chance again. Third time's the charm. . So, yeah, the Past Zone was open, TIME TO GO! (this mission was removed in Retro btw) I bid the characters farewell and Samurai Jack'd my ass outta 'ere i have not watched samurai jack anyway fast forward past the shutdown to OpenFusion where I restarted my journey to save the Cartoon Network Universe. . This is where my Creature Feature showcase started. I also began an external and complex log of every mission, Boss Monster and Thromnambular locations, along with other details and I'd like to share it with other Notepad Purists-- I mean everyone when I finish it. As you may know, I've only done four monsters; those found in the Future Zone. I didn't spend as much time here as I did in 2018 and I was a bit less thoughtful with my decision to leave but it felt just as sorrowful having to go. I kept playing until level 12 where I just stopped. . The reason I haven't posted any more than the four I got is because I just hadn't found any more interesting monsters to showcase in the Past. I couldn't find any thing to like. However, be ready for the Oil Ogres when I get there-- I will post about them, I will gush about their greatness. . NOW. "Present day" post-Majora's Mask again after eight years. Seriously, I haven't played that game since I was in metaphorical diapers. I used a guide to get through that game my very first time (masks included), but the last time--the most recent time--I think it was nearing the end of Spring, early Summer, anyways I 100%'d the game ALL. BY. MY. SELF (save for the one heart piece from the treasure chest game won by being a goron, i don't know how i would've figured this out in-game, what? do i talk to someone in clock town AS a goron to get this information idk maybe i should try that next time in eight years). But in this last playthrough, I had what may have been my greatest yet most melancholy memory with this game. . Alright, lemme paint this picture: uhh let's do 4chan. >be me >like 90% done with mm >stone tower is left along with other things
Tumblr media
BAH forget it. Yes, I was very close to finishing this game. I had the Stone Tower Temple (and its 15 stray fairies) left to do along with the Anju and Kafei three-day-time sidequest, maybe a few masks, too, and the remaining Heart Pieces (excluding the Moon, those were easy enough to obtain). By the way, I fucked up the Bombchu aiming needed to get to the one kid wearing Twinmold's mask, so the first time beating Majora was without the Fierce Deity Mask, but just a week or two ago, I went back and absolutely shat on Majora because I got the FD mask after simply
getting good.
Maybe it was meant to be; to do the final boss as base Link, then the bonus is a rematch using the sheer and raw power of the Fierce Deity Mask. . Sorry tangent, yeah I was close to the end of the game. I began the three day cycle anew. In this timeline, before heading to the Stone Tower Temple (STT, from here on), I had a rematch with the prior dungeon bosses, Odalwa, Goht, and Gyorg, before moving on to the penultimate frontier. Snowhead took me more than the three days (inverted Song of Time activated, too) to figure out the earlier puzzle in the central room, so I had to reset time once to complete the whole dungeon. Surprisingly, STT took me only two and 3/4 days (inverted time activated also), or until midnight of the Final Day to complete. I can't remember what I was more stuck on, the puzzles or the fairies. . I had to listen to the greatest dungeon song for about 3 hours. . But man, upon seeing that cutscene of the four giants' spirits(?) being released, that just felt "it" for me. I had nothing else I wanted to/could do (time-specific sidequests) since, again, I was nearly 100% done with the game, so I returned to Clock Town for a drink: a nice alcoholic Chateau Romani. After a nice swig of three-day-magic, I just roamed the fields with Epona until I had pulled out my Ocarina at the last second to reset time to the Dawn of the First Day. I nearly let the world end, and it was such an indescribable, unhappy feeling. You know "My Friend and the Setting Sun"? yeah well I was "My Horse and the Falling Moon".
youtube
So that brings me back to FusionFall. With nothing left to do but wait til the world ends (well you dont actually see the world end, but it's implied that it does after you travel back in time), it left me with that feeling of, I guess, "I don't wanna leave this place but I have to because this game has an important story ahead". . Or maybe it just has something to do with me and my idea of timelines. I'd have to leave something I cannot return to, and I find it difficult to leave things I grown attached to. Yeah, it's a videogame at the end of the day, but it's more to me. The characters I met, the things I've done and the things I've seen will be gone when I leave and no one else will remember. Makes me sad, really. . sorry Where was I going with this? I forgot.

Being an anime inspired show, Punch Punch Forever translating to FusionFall’s style is just a no-brainer. I just wish there was a karate gi costume in the original game in order to base Gogo’s outfit from, instead of using Ryu’s SSB4 artwork as a ref. I wonder if Retrobution has one of these added…
